Prayer Squares for the Troops
As I prepared for Confirmation in the Catholic Church, I was invited to develop a community service project that had deep personal meaning.  At that time, I had an aunt who was serving as a helicopter pilot in Iraq.  I wanted to complete a project that would touch the lives of our soldiers overseas.  After some research I learned of the Prayer Squares for the Troops project.  This project encourages people to knit 4 X 4 inch squares that are then blessed and sent to the soldiers to tuck into a helmet or pocket.  It is just a small way for them to know that someone is thinking of and praying for them.  I provided the knitting instructions in our church bulletin and asked the members to start knitting.  I was hopefull to collect a few hundred squares.  I was very surprised and pleased when the project yielded over 1,100 squares.  After collecting the squares I tied a small prayer to each one and shipped them off to a chaplain in Iraq.

The Glass Slipper Project
As a NH Future Business Leaders of America State Officer, I was encouraged to develop and implement a community service project that would benefit an organziation in our state.    I am currently coordianing a project that will encourage formal wear shops to donate 5% of prom sales to the Make A Wish Foundation.  Please see my FBLA page for more information about this project.
